How to Clean and Store Kids' Swim Goggles
Share
A two-minute care routine can help kids' swim goggles last longer. The priorities are simple: remove pool or salt residue, protect the inner anti-fog surface and let every part dry before storage.
Step 1: rinse with cool fresh water
After each swim, rinse the frame, gasket and strap. Let water flow over the lenses without scrubbing them. This removes chlorine, salt, sand and some sunscreen residue.
Step 2: avoid the inner lens
Do not rub the inside with fingers, a towel or clothing. Many goggles have a factory anti-fog coating on this surface, and friction can damage it. If care directions supplied with the goggles differ, follow the product instructions.
Step 3: shake and air-dry
Shake off excess water and leave the goggles open in a shaded, ventilated place. Do not use a hair dryer, radiator or direct high heat. Fabric straps may need extra drying time.
Step 4: use a case
Once completely dry, place the goggles in a ventilated protective case or clean compartment. Keep them away from sharp objects, sandy towels and heavy items that could bend the frame.
Step 5: inspect before the next swim
- Check the gasket for cracks, folds or sticky residue.
- Check fabric stitching, bungee toggles and rear clips.
- Look through the lenses for scratches or persistent cloudiness.
- Confirm the strap still holds its setting.
What not to do
- Do not leave wet goggles zipped in a swim bag for days.
- Do not store them on a hot dashboard.
- Do not clean them with alcohol, glass cleaner or abrasive soap unless explicitly approved.
- Do not share goggles without cleaning the surfaces that touch skin.
